While Mille Lacs lake is known for the size of its muskies, it is not known for the numbers of them. Mille Lacs lake is managed at a very low population density. With little to no natural reproduction the numbers of fish just are not there. This is why Mille Lacs has the giants it does..
Because of this unique characteristic of Mille Lacs lake, Matt Treno offers 2 types of musky trips in the local area. Trip #1 is a trophy hunt. If your sights are set on that truly giant fish of a lifetime there is no better lake then Mille Lacs! Matt encourages his trophy hunters to book trips in either the June/early July period or the fall October/November monster hunt!
Musky trip #2 focuses more on just catching a musky 40 inches or bigger. Often these trips are taken on some smaller bodies of water in the local area. Trip #2 promises more action and results but less fish over that 50 inch mark. Trolling trips are also an option and a great choice for kids!
